SEA Teacher Project 5th Batch: Damrongratsongkroh School (General Information and Academic Administration)

As i said before that i've been placed in Damrongratsongkroh for this project. So i will tell things about the profile of the school.

Damrongratsongkroh is located at 554 Uttarakit Rd, Tambon Wiang, Amphoe Muang Chiang Rai, Chiang Rai 57000, Thailand; telephone number: +66 53 711 450; Fax number: +66 53 711 471; website: http://www.damrong.ac.th. This school is one of the extra largest schools in Chiang Rai in the Secondary Educational Service Area Office 36, Office of the Basic Educational Commission, Ministry of Education. 

Damrongratsongkroh School formerly known as Bamrungkumaree was founded in 1918 as one of the provincial high school for boys and girls in Chiang Rai. Later on, Bamrungkumaree became two separates; independent and exclusive schools. The boys school which is currently known as Samakkhiwittayakom School, and the girl school known as Damrongratsongkroh School today.

At present, both schools open its doors to all high school applicants. Now, Damrongratsongkroh School is an institutional that offers quality education among all students from Matthayomsuksa 1-6 with 72 classes and 7 buildings namely Bamrungkumaree, Srirattananakhet, Ratchadetdamrong, Pitakpongchiangmun, Phanthummmathirattana building, Art building, and Science Building. The school is administered by Mr. Adool Nantbancha.

The vision of this school is to become the leaders in developing learners to be World Class Standard citizens focusing on building quality students with moral ethics and desirable characteristics based on the philosophy and sufficiency economy beyond the quality system management. 
The missions of this school are :

2.    To support and develop learners ‘ qualities through their potential abilities

3.    To encourage and develop learners to have moral, ethics and desirable characteristics based on the philosophy of Sufficiency Economy

4.    To develop a learning society inside the school by using a variety of resources and modern technology

5.    To support and encourage learners to take part in preserving the environment, Thai culture, customs and traditions and to gain  awareness of other international cultures

6.    To support and encourage learners to have life skills, healthy and a drug-free lifestyle

7.    To develop good governance in management system

8.    To support and encourage learners’ parents, their communities, other government offices and non-government organization to participate in developing educational management

Damrongratsongkroh School have some goals:

1.    Become high-quality word class citizens ad excellent learners in academic works, arts, musics and sports

2.    Become learners who have life skills, high moral, ethical values and desirable characteristics based upon the philosophy of Sufficiency Economy

3.    Become the high-quality World Class Standard School

4.    Become the potential school to use good governance in management system

5.    Become the learning society school by using differentiated technology and learning linkages

In Damrongratsongkroh School, there are around 2748 students in all levels; secondary lower and upper level. The numbers of teachers are around 135 teachers.

Damrongratsongkroh School has libraries; main library, library for Mini English Program (MEP), library for science, and small library in each department. They have ICT as resource center room for surfing the internet and borrow laptop in free time, and 2 labs for learn English program. They also have sport facilities, such badminton, futsal, basket ball, takraw, and others.
A week of learning is held for 5 days. They have 9 subjects, as follow: Thai, Math, Social, Science, Physically Education, Art, English, Guidance Counseling, and Vocational. For each subject, it has during 50 minutes. A day this school has 9 periods of subject. For the materials, the teacher in Damrongratsongkroh School that teach Physics and Science use internet to get teaching aids and books as resources.

This school has different measurement and evaluation system with school in my country, Indonesia. Damrongratsongkroh School has 8 levels for measurement and evaluation as follows:

All of the schools in Thailand use the curriculum from the government. However, the teachers in Damrongratsongkroh School have to make their own lesson plan but still according to the national curriculum.

In upper secondary school, the students can choose the program such as english program, japanese program, france program, math and science program, and others.

In my opinion, this school has a strong desire to become a world class standard school. For examples, Damrongratsongkroh school has a cooperation program with one of the school in Philiphines. Philiphines teachers and students comes to Damrongratsongkroh School to learned education system in Damrong school. And on March, it’s time for Damrongratsongkroh School visit the Philiphines school for a week.

Then, this school has so many foreign teachers. There are from USA and Philiphines., Even though this school is not an international school. And also, receiving SEA Teacer participants is also one of their purpose to became a world class standard school.
